    Lohas Park, Tseung Kwan O

The following outlines the interior design elements of a renovation project:

    • The colour scheme of the living/dining room: beige and natural wood colours are used to create a relaxed and warm feeling, in line with the family’s colour preferences.
    • The colour scheme of the master room: brown and earth tones are used to give a subtle sense of luxury, in line with the identity and colour preferences of the couple.
    • The colour scheme of the daughter’s room: With a black piano in this narrow, long room, the space could easily feel oppressive; hence, light colours were used to balance the space. It so happened that the daughter liked lilac and beige, the combination of which made the space feel soft and spacious. The sound-absorbing panels on the headboard also doubled as a notice board, and the mix of dark and light grey and geometric patterns added much depth to the harmony of colour and space.
    • The concept of space: The living/dining room and the bedroom required much storage space, so a lot of cabinets were made. The neat row of cabinets on the side of the living/dining room could be distinguished by material and colour, delineating the space by function (entrance, dining room, and living room). The consistency of materials and colours, together with the hollow design of some parts of the cabinets, made the space look wider. Even with a large and eye-catching sofa, the space would not feel cramped and still managed to accommodate the needs of every family member.
    • Lighting selection: The couple was particularly concerned about the protection of eyesight. Glare/reflected glare could make people feel irritated and disturbed, and light should not be directed down. Lamps that came with filters and allowed for adjustments of brightness and colour temperatures were chosen. The main lighting of the home was augmented with functional, decorative mood lighting, such as the chandelier in the dining room cupboard, the LED lights on the bedside table, the bottom of the cabinet, and inside the cabinet, etc. The whole place seemed full of layers, soft, and warm as a result.
