In March 2018, H.K.S.K.H. Chuk Yuen Canon Martin District Elderly Community Centre received the sponsorship of Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Company Limited and appointed Kam Wah to work with occupational therapists on Home Visit and Modification Programme for the Elderly in Chuk Yuen Tsuen. The programme provided 50 elderly households with individualised services, including home safety assessments, home equipment purchases, and improvement works. Not only did the team design with elderly-friendly elements, service users were also encouraged to give feedback and raise requests. While the scope of this programme was limited to Chuk Yuen Estate, it enabled the team to understand the need for home safety assessments and improvement projects. It also laid a solid foundation for the promotion of elderly-friendly design, encouraging more people in the industry to pay attention to it and applying it.
